I Did It + Exciting Announcement!

I sat in church on Christmas morning listening to people tell their stories about how God blessed them and their loved ones this year. Everyone shared a Bible verse first, and then went into their short testimonies. As I listened, I thought about what verse I would choose and what blessing I would share. I didn’t want to read a whole chapter but I didn’t want to get up there and say two words either. You know that feeling you get in your stomach when it’s your turn to speak or present something? Multiply that by one hundred and that’s how I felt lol. One person stood up, and then another, and another - eventually it was my turn. Great, I’m gonna have to just wing it because I don’t have a verse yet, I thought. As soon as I stood up, it came to me.

“Philippians 4:13 says that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, and I realize that this year was my year of doing things through Christ”. I talked about how I graduated from college (with honors, ayyy!), started a blog, jumped into my career, and found my purpose in life. I mentioned that it’s hard being in your 20’s trying to follow what God has for you when there are so many distractions and temptations. I don’t remember exactly what I said, but as soon as I sat down it really hit me: I did it. I set out to do so many things at the beginning of this year and, without mentioning everything, there were only two things on my list that I didn’t accomplish in a way that I wanted to. And you know, I’m good with that. Graduating from college was a big deal for me, and finding my purpose means even more.

Don’t get me wrong, 2018 definitely dragged me lol. There were many challenges that I didn’t mention and at some point I’m sure I will, but for now I’m grateful for the things I was able to do. Anxiety didn’t win. Feelings of defeat didn’t win. I am happy, genuinely happy. Trust in God - even when it doesn’t make sense and even when your faith is a little shaky. Trust in Him anyway. There are so many exciting things coming for me in 2019. I don’t do resolutions but I do sit down at the beginning of the year and make goals for myself - some big, some small. Make your goals manageable, timely, achievable, and realistic. Come up with a plan for each one. I don’t care if your goal is to save $5,000 or to stop drinking soda. You can do it, even when you think you can’t. Trust God and know that He has a plan for you.

On that note, I have exciting news! Let me stop you while you’re ahead… I am not pregnant, engaged, and I did not win the lottery lol. However, I do have a special announcement! My best friend, Danielle, and I are starting a blog! There are so many blogs and support groups for teachers, parents of school-aged children, new moms, etc. but there aren’t really any for those who work in childcare or family services. We worked in childcare with elementary school students for several years and want to share our experiences, provide support, and create an online environment where those who are in the field or thinking about going into child/family services can feel welcomed. We’ll be talking about the good, bad, ugly, and everything in between! If you’re in childcare, family services, a teacher, or anything related, or if you’re thinking about it, this will be the blog for you! The website is under construction so stay tuned for the launch!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and I hope you have an even better new year! See you in my next post and on our new site! Don’t go anywhere, I’ll still have my personal blog but I hope you’ll join us over there too! Until 2019… stay blessed.

All My Love,

Tyler
