Happy Valentine's Day!

"Let all that you do be done in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14 NIV

In elementary school, Valentine's Day was a big deal.  You had to carefully plan out who got what card and candy because that signified who you really liked in class.  Fast forward to 2018, Valentine's Day is still pretty cool but I think for old time's sake we should go back to cards with the insert for a lollipop.

Today I'm off to an Erykah Badu and Thundercat concert and I'm excited!!  Thankfully, my last few years celebrating Valentine's Day have been enjoyable but I recognize that not everyone is thrilled about this day.  Whether you're single, married, whatever, have fun today.  Spend time doing something you love with someone you love, whether it's a significant other, friend, family member, etc.

Since today is all about love, I thought it would be fun to introduce a special someone to you all... my Valentine for the third year in a row, Sam.  We first saw each other at a church event in March 2014 and in March 2015 we were introduced at the same church event.  Our first time hanging out was at Denny's and I think we talked for about 3 hours that night.  "Hanging out" turned into date nights and fast forward a couple of years, here we are!  (Stay tuned for a post in March to learn more about us.)  Though we took our time, it was easy to see in the beginning that we wanted to be with each other for the long run.  No relationship is rainbows and puppies all the time; we are still young and learning how to do life with each other, but I can honestly say that he is my best friend and I love him very much.  It's truly a blessing to have someone like him in my life and he was absolutely worth the wait.

One question that I get asked a lot in relation to dating is how I knew he was "the one".  The cliche answer is that you feel it and you just know.  But really, you do feel it and you do know.  God will give all kinds of signs and messages to let you know if the person you are dating is for you or not.  Sometimes we (myself included) ignore the signs that God gives us and we don't pay attention to red flags but they are always there.  No one is perfect, but just like you know that someone is for you, you know that someone isn't for you.  Prayer is also a way to seek the answers you are looking for but when you ask, make sure you are prepared for the answer lol.

Well, no matter how you choose to spend today I hope you have a wonderful day that's filled with love in some way or another.  Don't forget that all candy goes on sale tomorrow for half off!  All jokes aside, have fun today and do at least one thing that brings a smile to your face and someone else's face.  Are you doing anything fun today/this week?  Leave a comment and share and I'll see you in my next post!

"And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." Colossians 3:14 NIV

All My Love,
