College Chat: Last Semester!

On Monday I go back to school... for the last time!  I have so many mixed emotions but most of all I'm really proud of myself.  There are 118 days until graduation and trust me when I say I am counting down the days.  It feels surreal to be so close to completing my Bachelor's degree because it's been quite the journey through college.  If you're new here, I graduated from high school in 2012, then in 2016 I got an Associate's in Social and Behavioral Science, and I'm finishing my Bachelor's in Family and Consumer Science (Family Studies).

There are so many things I could say about college - what I've learned in and out of class, people I've met, crazy parties I went to, professors who made school worthwhile, etc.  Truthfully, being in college has been one of the most difficult parts of my life.  Every single semester has had some kind of challenge and if I'm being honest I can't wait to be done with everything.  Everyone always asks me if I plan on continuing to grad school and I haven't decided.  It's expensive, time consuming, and overall a commitment that I debate about making.  If I did get a Master's it would be in counseling or education; I haven't quite decided.

No matter what challenges come my way within the next few months I will remind myself that my finish line is so close.  Everything will be worth it in the end and I know that when I cross that stage in May I'll look back on everything and be grateful for it all.  No matter what semester you're in I encourage you to stay determined and keep going, even if you're tired and feel like giving up.  You don't have to have a 4.0 or take 18 units each semester or go to Yale to be successful in school.  You just need to work hard, stay disciplined, stay focused, and believe that you can graduate.  Party, but make sure you turn in your essay on time.  Don't be too hard on yourself.  Learn to appreciate the ups and the downs in college and keep your eyes on your goals.  Best of luck to all of you this semester and if you're graduating like me, we're almost there!!!
